I remember one of the first big realizations of adulthood was that I could pretty much buy new video games whenever I wanted, rather than saving up months of allowance. Even so, I've mostly stuck to buying one or two games at a time, finishing them (or getting bored of them) and then repeating the process.
Occasionally I do buy a pile of new stuff all at once, and it's a double-edged sword. It's nice to feel like I've just touched the tip of the iceberg, and there's so much new stuff to try and experience, but I have to resist the impulse to chide myself whenever I stick to one game for a long time, or play old stuff I've owned for years when I still own games I haven't even tried yet. Something about having new games around makes me feel almost obligated to balance my playtime between them, even if I'm really engrossed in one or two games at the moment.
What's your preference? Do you space out your purchases or build up a stack of new games to work your way through?
