This elusive beast can only be found in the deepest and darkest jungles of the world. With it's mighty agility and unparalleled strength it has frightened residents for years. Look out behind you! It's Challenger Approaching!
It's time for the induction of my 13th potential Smash Bros character. I say "potential" because the characters I pick have not (yet) been announced by Nintendo, though they have confirmed a few new comers already. Don't tell any one, but I secretly hacked into the Nintendo's mainframe and stole all the character data... *cough*. Awwww, well if it isn't...
Name: Dixie Kong
Notable Appearances: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES, 1995), Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (SNES, 1996), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U, 2013)
Bio: Dixie has been a part of the Nintendo family for nearly 20 years, but she's been featured as more of a background character for most of that time. First appearing in 1995's DKC2, Dixie was introduced to players as Diddy Kong's girlfriend and younger sister of the vivacious Candy Kong. She soon took the lead roll in the third DKC installment and has since fallen by the way side, though she has shown up in a few sports and music titles over the years. Recently it was announced that Dixie was making a come back in the upcoming Wii U exclusive Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, where she will once again be a playable character. Using her signiture helicopter hairdo, Dixie can help Donkey Kong reach secret areas and defeat out-of-reach foes.
Plan of Attack: I'm sure most players would immediately jump to the concussion that Dixie would be a clone or semi-clone of Diddy Kong when it comes to move sets, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Though Diddy and Dixie share many similarities I feel she has enough personality and different skills that she could be set apart. Obviously a huge part (all puns intended) of Dixies moves would come from her flowing locks. Her enormous blonde ponytail would be her main form of recovery, not to mention a deadly weapon for combat. Dixie could spin, whip and throw her enemies to the point of defeat. I always wanted Donkey Kong or Diddy to have a move where they rolled a barrel at opponents... why not Dixie? Couple these moves with some entertaining blasts or skull cracks from her signature pink guitar and Dixie Kong is ready for battle.
Odds of Being Added: As most readers usually yell at me for my optimistic odds system I'm taking it out for the time being. Instead I'll just share a few thoughts regarding the matter. Nintendo has obviously brought Dixie out of a major popularity slump for a reason - gamers like her. For this reason it wouldn't be too farfetched to see her make it into the next Smash tiles. She's not my top pick, but I would be happy and unsurprised to see her in the mix.
