Challenger Approaching: Haunted Hero

Deep in the dark basement of the TAY Blog there lurks a terrible force. Do you dare take the stairs down to your doom? Do you dare look into the eyes of... Challenger Approaching?!

Before everyone starts sharpening their pitchforks because I picked a character who's already a part of the Smash Bros roster keep this in mind - DEAL WITH IT. Not every character suggestion can be an fantastic old-school gem from a long forgotten classic. By my calculations I'm going to be doing A LOT of these articles before the next Smash Bros games show up for the Wii U and 3DS. With that in mind, let's meet...

Challenger Approaching: Haunted Hero

Name: Ghost Hunter Luigi

Notable Appearances: Luigi's Mansion (GC, 2001), Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS, 2013)

Bio: It seems Luigi has always played second fiddle to his older, pudgier brother. Even when Mario went missing in 1993's aptly titled "Mario is Missing" not many gamers seemed to care. Not until the GameCube hit in late 2001 did everyone sit up and take notice. The must-have of the GameCube launch (let's be honest there wasn't much to pick from on day one), Luigi's Mansion was a great change of pace from the average Mushroom Kingdom adventure. For over ten years gamers requested another spooky Luigi title, and a few months ago we finally got our wish. Luigi has finally made a name for himself after years and years of standing in his brothers shadow. Though Luigi is already a Smash Bros veteran I think it's time for a makeover.

Plan of Attack: Clumsy Luigi isn't a very agressive hero. His greatest power as a ghost hunter is his trusty Poltergust 5000. Think of the possibilites! With vacuum in hand Luigi could suck enemies in like Kirby and King Dedede, momentarily stopping their barrage of attacks. The Poltergust's air blowing function could also be used much like Mario's current F.L.U.D.D attack, pushing opponents far away. In the newly released Dark Moon Luigi gains the ability to use balloon berries to float to safety. This is the perfect setup for stage recovery! Throw in some classic melee attacks, an enemy stunning flashlight and you've got a new and improved Luigi.
