Craf-TAY Corner: FebruaryS

Welcome to Craf-TAY Corner, the monthly feature that lets the TAY community show off their creative sides. If you paint, sculpt, draw, put together models, cosplay, sew—do it badly—or would like to start a new hobby, here's the place to talk about your upcoming and ongoing projects.

I've had a very busy January. Not only did I finally finish the art for my graphic novel, I've started the art on my next graphic novel. Somewhere between that I managed to find time to cross off a project that's been collecting dust on my shelves for a while. One of my hobbies is taking the brushable ponies from the My Little Pony and making their hair and accessories accurate to their animation models. It's a bit of a challenge since not only to I have to interpret a 2D model into 3D, I have to deal with plastic hair, which doesn't behave like natural hair. In order to get the hair in the right place, I essentially have to stick the toys in almost-boiling water, which is both a process that requires careful supervision, it also looks kinda cruel. Here are some more pictures of the ponies I got done:

I'm still not 100% happy with Twilight's bangs since I can't get them feathered out enough.

This is the project I'll be picking up again next:

I know this is a little terrifying looking, but eventually this is going to be Bayonetta. I really, really need to redo the paint job on her face. Bayonetta is tricky because her character model is so detailed, but she's a super cool character and the body of a Barbie is actually pretty close to the character's in-game proportions.

So what are you guys working on around TAY? Talk about it and share your photos in the comments below.
