Now I'm sure you've found yourself wondering "wow, that guy made a very clever comment. But what in the world is that thing in his avatar? It's far too small to see, and I just can't quite make it out..." Well, lucky for you, Bob is here to the rescue!
More than a few times I've been asked "damn Bob, what in the world is going on in that fancy animated avatar of yours?" Well, I think it's about time I made a designated guide for just this question. Here we go.
Let's say you spy a fellow.
Now, you want to know what in the world is going on in that small box of his. So here is what you do.
Right-click on the avatar box, and click "Copy Image Location."
Now make a new tab and paste the URL in. And now you have...
(Protip: This works with any Gawker-network Image Asset.)
Now, simply change that part of the URL to large. Update: You can change it to "Original" instead for the highest quality.
Hit enter, and, well, I'll let you see for yourself. But there it is!
Now never ask me what my avatar is again.
Update: The image formatting was wonky as hell, so I embedded the pictures in the text instead. Use those if you need a visual aid.
