"...so we put some dark in, only so our light will show. You have to have dark in order to show light. Just like in life, if you don't have a little sadness in your life, you don't know when the happy times are coming..." ~Bob Ross

So, with all of our powers combined, I think it's safe to say that cumulatively we've all played thousands of games. I want to know the saddest parts of those games. I want the tear-jerkers. The super-ultra-feel-awful-but-not-really scenes. I want to know if there are any games out there that are able to provoke my cold and hardened soul (not really) into pouring out gallons of face feels. To start us off, I will show you all of the scenes in gaming that have made me cry (Note: not out of fear, looking at you Amnesia).

...I don't think that it needs to be stated, but just in case, DEAR GOD SPOILERS FOLLOW AVERT YOUR EYES CHILD. Now then...

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Emma's Death

Metal Gear is a series that is know for its exceptional (if absolutely wacky) storyline. I think that it's not really the story as a whole that draws in fans, but rather the series' fantastic characters. This scene from the second game shows Otacon, resident nerdy guy, cradling his sister as she dies, then revealing the story behind why he never saw her. This scene also contains my favorite moment in the entire franchise, the Snake and Otacon super bro handshake hug of glory. The sadness starts at around 3 and a half minutes. Best moment in the franchise at about 9:10.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Death of The Boss.

Continuing on the tragic moments in Metal Gear, this scene not only forces you to watch the final moment between Naked Snake and his beloved mentor; you, the player, have to be the one to pull the trigger.

Mass Effect 3 - Mordin's death

I don't think you're a human if you don't choke up at this. Mordin finally ends thousands of years of hostility between the races by sacrificing himself to cure the Krogan. Of course, he has to sing that damned song while he does it.....*cries*

Mass Effect 3 - Any of the endings

Now then, I, like many others, despised the original ME3 endings. However, the addition of the extended cut completely healed those wounds, and now it's one of my favorite endings to a game. There are several tear-jerkers in ME3, but I only count the ones I'm going to see. Let's face it, I'm never going to let Tali or Garrus die. Still though, when that piano music kicks in, I just lose it. The control ending is my favorite of the bunch.

Final Fantasy X-2 - The Concert

To this day, I don't know why this scene makes me cry. I'm not the world's biggest fan of FFX-2 because it took away the significance of the ending of FFX. Still though, this incredibly pretty scene features great music and glimpses of the tragic story that is told over the course of the game.

Final Fantasy X - The End

Oh dear god, I can't even hear the music in this scene without breaking down. As everyone knows, FFX is my favorite game ever. I bawl every time I see this scene, my girlfriend always pokes fun at me for it. It's just such a beautiful and bittersweet sendoff to a game.
