Yes, you're doing it Squirtle! You're flying!
Or floating in a bubble or whatever idk but just do yo thang little man i got yo baq
Squirtle, the most squirreliest turtle there ever was! Actually, is he named Squirtle because he's a Turtle who...squirts? PERVERTS BE GONE WITH THEE i mean to say he spits out water from his mouth hole
Or is he part part squirrel and part turtle? To this day I'm not sure, but as a kid I believed it to be the latter. I mean, look at that tail! I've never seen a turtle with such an appendage like that. I'm sure officially its the former.
But anyway, onto the art. Squirtle is beloved by many as he is the baby form of the big bad bruiser Blastoise, the mascot of Pokemon Blue. On top of that, in the anime he brought sexy back with those sunglasses. Dem sunglasses were fiyah son. I was this close to including them in the illustration but passed it up to focus on the soft direction I took with this one.
Squirtle in this piece is the first art of the series I've depicted at an odd kind of angle, as the others have been straight forward or in profile. Also, this is the first art that depicts him with an added "instrument", which in this case is a bubble...His signature attack as a youngling.
So there you have it! Hope you enjoyed! Please share this project with people you think might be interested to see it. Anyway, thanks and see you tomorrow!
P.S. Here's a compilation of my Char family!
+ Pokemon One a Day is a series illustrated and curated by Bonny John in an effort to represent the entire catalogue of characters from the world wide phenomenon that is known as Pokemon. The idea is simple - to draw and share one new Pokemon a day (weekends off!) until every Pokemon is completed. This project is an exploration of fine art styles for learning and leisurely purposes.
