Do you want some high-quality entertainment? Do you want to see your most beloved games being torn apart (in a good way)? Do you want to spend your money on something more useful than buying games on Steam Sale? Then this is the right thing for you.

Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ in short) is a video game speedrun marathon that runs from July 25th to 29th. It is a charity marathon in which you can donate during a run to win prices such as older video games or self-made. You can also donate for special conditions, such as choosing a specific character or difficulty, or even use your name for a hero or game file.
All donations go to Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian-aid organization.

These guys have been organizing charity speedrun marathons for years now. Their more popular event, Awesome Games Done Quick, has established one groundbreaking record after another in terms of donations.
In 2011 they scored $53,000, in 2012 they scored $149,000. This January? Over 448,000 dollars! All of this for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Before there was Kickstarter, these guys were breaking records left and right, gathering money for the good cause.

And you get quite a bit of entertainment for your donated money, too, because these guys know every glitch and but in existence to achieve the shortest time possible. And more often than not, it's mindblowing stuff.
One of ADGQ 2013's highlights was the run of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarine of Time done in 22:38. And no this is not a type, they finished the game in under 23 minutes!

But enough talk. Spread the word, let everyone of your friends know that this is a must-see and must-donate event. Every dollar counts, and they really deserve all the support they can get.

For more information, see the marathon schedule as well as the main info site. The stream of the event can be seen on either Twitch.tv or the main website of SpeedDemosArchive.
