TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

Enough With The Inventories!

I am excited for an ESO-free weekend. While I had an amazing time with The Elder Scrolls Online beta, it consumed entire weekends and pushed my other games aside from the disruption to my schedule. I'll be glad to get back to my regular gaming for a while.

TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

I was very surprised how much fun I had in ESO, though it was really the combat that hooked me. I think I've made my peace with the MMO aspects of the game and while I'd rather have a Skyrim/Borderlands style of game than an MMO, I'm happy to play the MMO if that means I can play an online Elder Scrolls game with my friend. I think I'm going to wait a couple months after ESO launches before buying it, let some other paying people hunt out all the bugs first.

I was doing some reading today and it sounds like they have been working at polishing before the launch:

Matt Firor: We found the underlying problem that caused that series of bugs (similar problems across a wide variety of quests) that made the last beta frustrating for players and those fixes will show up on PTS on Monday and will be live for early access. We're pretty sure we found all of them, but we will remain vigilant and will fix anything else that may crop up.

TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

After a few weeks of neglect, I finally managed to pull off a few hours of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen last night. I'm hopefully getting near the end having just finished off the Everfall area. I'll be glad to move on to something else a little more shooty. I like Dragon's Dogma, but it is plodding like many RPGs and coming off The Elder Scrolls Online beta, I'm all RPG'd out for a while I think. With Borderlands 2 in the mix, I am completely sick of looking at inventories. I need a few games without inventories to cleanse the palate.

TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

I'm really enjoying my time with Borderlands 2 with my friend, but all the inventory comparisons, all the time, really gets to me. I don't know how you people that play loads of RPGs cope with it, it really slows the pace of the game down. Between the shops and the inventory, you spend a large chunk of the game in a shopping-state.

Even my Minecraft sessions with Xander this week had me rooting through inventories!

TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

On a sad note, I hooked up one of my old Commodore 64s this week for Xander to play and it was a pretty spectacular failure. I'm not sure if the old floppy discs aren't viable anymore or if the drive is fubar. My father is bringing me our other drive that is in storage at his place, hopefully that will work better. Xander has been excited to play Ghostbusters on the Commodore 64 ever since he saw the videos of it on Youtube.

So, this weekend will hopefully allow me to play some more Dragon's Dogma and maybe give Chroma another whirl...at least there aren't inventories in that.

What are you playing this weekend?
