Word of the Day: Facetious

Good evening and welcome to Word of the Day! A journey through the English vocabulary and the words that piqued my interest, in WotD we'll be learning a new word for each working day of the week, bar holidays, unless there's a holiday special...

Today's word is:

facetious

|fəˈsē sh əs|

adjective

  • Treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant.

ORIGIN: late 16th cent. (in the general sense [witty, amusing] ): from French facétieux, from facétie, from Latin facetia 'jest,' from facetus 'witty.'

Today's word comes courtesy of the one and only TUT (and Jonesy (=^・^=) ) since I really couldn't think of any fancy word, he also provided on that masterpiece up there so props to him... he's wonderful ^^
